Frequently Asked Questions - modified to reflect partnership with RBYLax.
My daughter has never played lacrosse before. Is that okay?
Absolutely! There are girls new to lacrosse every season at all age levels.
When and where are your practices and games?
Please reach out to RBYLax for practice and game schedules.
Can you tell me more about player eligibility?
Girls from kindergarten thru 8th grades are eligible to play. While most of the players attend Poway Unified Schools and ulitmately attend Poway or RB High School, it's not a requirement. GJLOP and RB welcomes players who attend private schools or who are homeschooled as well.
What equipment does my daughter need to play lacrosse?
She will need a girls lacrosse stick, a pair of goggles, cleats (lacrosse cleats do exist, but soccer or football cleats are acceptable), and a colored mouthguard (not clear or white; no tab; no pretend teeth printed on it).
Where can I buy equipment?
The closest lacrosse retail store is Lacrosse Unlimited in Solana Beach. You can also get gear at local sporting good stores like Dick's and Big 5. Play It Again Sports may have used equipment. RB also has some loaner equipment available on a case by case basis.
Do you offer financial assistance for families who need it?
RB wants to get a sick in every girl's hand that wants to play. GJLOP had payment plans, partial, and full scholarship options, and waived registration fees for players who have parents who are willing (and qualified) to coach. Please ask RB about those options for your daughter.
Why does my daughter have to be a current member of US Lacrosse to participate?
Our governing body, the San Diego Girls Lacrosse Association, is requiring that all players and coaches have a current US Lacrosse membership for insurance & liability purposes.
